Serving Together
The West Texas Homeless Network is a Local Homeless Coalition working to prevent and end homelessness in West Central Texas.
What does it mean to be a Local Homeless Coalition?
As a Local Homeless Coalition, WTHN is neither a non-profit nor a for-profit organization, but a group of organizations and advocates working together to end homelessness in Abilene, TX. We are a member of the Texas Homeless Network (THN), a non-profit membership-based organization that helps communities strategically plan to prevent and end homelessness in Texas.
THN collaborates with all communities, large and small, across the state to build systems to end homelessness. We coordinate local and national advocacy efforts, data collection and research, host an annual statewide conference, and serve as the host agency for the Texas Balance of State Continuum of Care (CoC) where we assist in the coordination of programs and funding.
Our Mission
The mission of WTHN is to lead the efforts to identify issues that affect those at risk of and experiencing homelessness and to support the development of community strategies to prevent and end homelessness.
Our Purpose
WTHN exists to bring local agencies and advocates through a Continuum of Care (CoC) plan: a strategic, community-wide effort to provide housing and services that prevent homelessness and foster long-term stability.
Abilene has measurably ended homelessness for veteran and chronic populations.
You can be part of the solution.
